This week’s roundup features a couple of bloggers who have made an appearance here before along with a few new faces. This weekend’s reading is light and mostly fun…. there’s only one post sure to cause you a few gray hairs and its about how your hosting company may be sabotaging your SEO. Stop by to read an opinion on whether emoticons are appropriate for communications, get some interesting blogging statistics that make great tweetables and check out how one cab driver is making his customers happy (hint: candy!)

This week it seems everyone was on a rant about SEO. I found three great posts – one challenging our views on SEO, one warning of the dangers of guest posting and a third that’s both amusing and educational in which the author takes on Matt Cutts and does a little negative SEO on that famous Googler’s website. There’s also one about content marketing and an interesting take on what Alexa rank, as inaccurate as it is, matters. Read and learn, there’s plenty of good stuff here!

First of all Happy Mother’s Day if you’re a mom or about to be one… and a happy one to your moms, too! I hope you have a chance to relax and drink in some good reading this weekend because I found some good stuff about social media (measuring your ROI, updating your profiles to avoid being an egghead and more), a good warning about using jargon on your website (it may not be as obvious as you think!) and and interesting infographic about why email subscribers unsubscribe. Another weekend roundup of some smart marketing blogs, ideas and inspiration. This week I stumbled across some deep-thinkers and a few that amused me. Here’s a selection of reading from planning websites to managing blogs that will kickstart your weekend and keep your creative juices flowing.

After a tough week for a lot of people, I found some blogs for you today that are a little bit fun, a little bit entertaining, and educational in a way that you can try out right now without spending days planning and obsessing. There’s some neat psychology behind generating Facebook Likes and getting your blogs to go viral. There’s a fun infographic about social media personalities and there’s a really helpful quick-tip about finding awesome artwork to use as images on your site or blog. Take a break, drag up a chair and enjoy!

Some weekend reading is coming your way… and since we’re enjoying a little taste of spring here in New Jersey, I picked a few “short-n-sweet” posts for you today, so you can get your reading in and still have time to play! Short doesn’t mean shallow, though – there are some good ideas here and some good things to think about. I particularly enjoyed the post about social media “noise”, which makes the point that a lot of people are forgetting that conversations are part of being social. There’s also a great daily Twitter marketing plan if you’re still wondering where to start. And a couple more that I hope you’ll enjoy!

This was one of those tough weeks to choose only five blogs to share. The ones here are really the top of what I found and I hope you’ll enjoy them. There’s one that’s just hilarious called “Should Happens” that plays on a common phrase (I’m sure you can guess) and has a great lesson in there, too. There’s a great practical one on handling billing and invoicing issues that are common among service providers. And I could go on but I’ll let you read and choose your favorites!
